President Donald Trump tweeted Wednesday that Moogs manufacturing facility in Mexico has been sold to Mexico.
The tweet came shortly after Moog announced it was exiting the automotive manufacturing industry and shutting down the factory in Guadalajara, Mexico.
“Moog just announced it will be closing the Guadalavista factory.
They are taking their place in Mexico,” Trump wrote.
“But the United States is still a great place to make products.
I mean, why not make your products in America?”
Trump also tweeted that Moigs manufacturing plant in Mexico is expected to have a manufacturing capacity of 1.2 million vehicles and 1.5 million parts.
“The new plant is expected be built in 2019 and the production capacity is expected will be 1.4 million vehicles, 1.6 million parts and 1 million workers.
It is going to be the largest factory in the world.”
The president’s tweet comes after he repeatedly tweeted about the importance of manufacturing in the U.S., including at the 2016 Democratic National Convention.
The president has been critical of the manufacturing industry, which employs more than 1.3 million people.
