A merger between GM and Mercedes-Benz is on the horizon for Canada.
GM and Mercedes Benz announced on Thursday that they are working together to build a car and parts brand in Canada.GM will become a subsidiary of Mercedes-Brunswick and will take over Mercedes-brand vehicles in Canada, where the company has factories in Canton, Algoma and Sherbrooke.
Mercedes-Bruchswick will be sold as GM’s auto parts brand and will be owned by the German automaker, the announcement said.
A joint venture will be formed between GM, Mercedes-Benfits and Mercedes for the joint manufacturing of parts and service services.
The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2019.
